St. John’s , Newfoundland and Labrador

The provincial capital and largest city of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, is St. John’s, which is situated on the easternmost point of the Avalon Peninsula on the island of Newfoundland.
The city is located in eastern North America and covers a land area of 446.04 km2 (172.22 sq mi) (excluding Greenland).
The St. John’s Metropolitan Area is the second-largest Census Metropolitan Area (CMA) in Atlantic Canada, after Halifax, and the 20th-largest metropolitan area in Canada, with a population of roughly 212,579 (as of February 9, 2022).
The city has a long history, having participated in the American Revolutionary War, the Seven Years’ War, and the War of 1812. The first transatlantic wireless signal was received in St. John’s by Italian inventor Guglielmo Marconi. It has grown to be a popular tourist destination as a result of its history and culture. In the poetry of Donnchadh Ruadh Mac Conmara (1715–1810) and among Irish speakers in Newfoundland, St. John’s was referred to as Baile Sheáin (Johnstown).
The ocean and St. John’s position as the provincial capital of Newfoundland and Labrador are both important to the city’s economy. St. John’s is gaining a reputation for being an entrepreneurial city.
